We had the gear and the enthusiasm

but something was missing...

Ah, here we go...

There were just a couple of trails open since it was just barely cold enough to make snow. After a few hours the snow was skied off so we were mostly skating down the mountain. But at least we got in one day of skiing during this weird warm December.

Last year my kids made sparkly stars and happy santa cookes, this year it was gingerbread cyclops and zombies and "Headless Bob" cookies.

Online activities for 5th graders

Summer ideas from Paige's 4th Grade Teacher:
Here is a website (and app) that sends a daily math problem to you. But, it is not an ordinary boring math problem. For example, one of the latest ones was an article about humpback whales (video links embedded and all!), with math related questions after's pretty good!
Here is the Scholastic summer reading program. Their kits come with Think Sheets (comprehension questions) and Journal sheets for each book in the kit.
Here is a local Science Program: Top Secret Science

Spain April 2015

on April 29th, 2015 at 8:00:00 PM

The highlight of our Spring was a visit to Spain to see the Nokes. We stayed with them at thier apartment in Sant Cugat del Vallès, a beautiful town on the outskirts of Barlcelona. We also had a vacation inside of a vacation by heading up the coast of Spain to spend a long weekend in the town of Cadaqués on Costa Brava. It was beautiful, peaceful and filled with great restaurants and food shops. The kids spent hours filling their pockets full of rocks and sea glass from the shore. This short video will give you a feel for the place.
